Our Bespoke team have had a busy week showing off our GOT Specialist skills with two client groups visiting Northern Ireland for all things Game of Thrones! Located in the #HomeofThrones, we had the opportunity to provide authentic and memorable experiences all-round to our international groups from China, Singapore, Hong Kong, Philippines and Taiwan.
While we wait excitedly for HBO’s Linen Mill Studio tour to open next year, we still had almost too much to fit in. These back to back client trips comprised of an immersive Winterfell Experience at Castle Ward in County Down; including cosplay, archery and axe throwing! Recently with a visit to Castle Ward, George RR Martin, the creator of GOT, admitted that the idea of the Stark family finding the direwolves was the beginning of it all. This made meeting Summer and Greywind, two of the Stark direwolves, even more special.
Then it was a plethora of on-location sites such as trekking in beautiful Tollymore Forest, a prime on-location site for the show. Our guests loved standing where some of their favourite characters once stood, as well as learning how they created the world of Westeros, deep in the forest with state-of-the-art CGI techniques. Other on-location sites included the famous and picturesque Dark Hedges and Ballintoy (Pyke) Harbour – perfect for iconic photo opportunities and serious bragging rights.
In Belfast the groups discovered the new #GlassofThrones trail and loved the GoT Exhibition at the Titanic Exhibition Centre. Of course, they experienced wonderful hospitality and food experiences at local restaurants including Mourne Seafood and Hadskis. NI wasn’t voted ‘World’s Best Food Destination’ for nothing! They also soaked up the cultural and history stories that we have in abundance, providing context and rounding off the programme perfectly.
