My journey to joining #TeamBespoke all started with a simple tweet asking for any graduate positions. As an agency that appreciates the power of social media,  Bespoke Business Events responded that they were recruiting through the Ulster University graduate scheme.

I have always been interested in the tourism industry and love exploring new places. I also completed by placement year in an events company in London, giving me a passion for the events industry. These factors, alongside my First-Class Honours degree in International Travel and Tourism Management from Ulster University, attracted me into the exciting new world of Business Tourism!

My internship started just over a month ago and I have already gained so much experience! I jumped into the role straight away with back-to-back Game of Thrones themed programmes, working closely with Tourism Ireland and even HBO themselves, working directly with their Asia office. As a huge GOT fan, with my final dissertation being on this topic, this was a really exciting first project and I loved being involved in creating an immersive experience for our clients in the #HomeOfThrones.

More recently, I was part of our Visit Britain and Tourism Ireland Fam trip for European Association Conference Buyers. We developed a specially curated itinerary which showed our #eventprofs the fantastic #MICE (Meeting, Incentive, Conference and Events) product offerings that Belfast has – something that I am still discovering myself!

I really enjoyed the ‘hands-on’ approach of this fam trip and found it very beneficial in my own development. We showcased 6 hotels, 14 event spaces and 5 restaurants in 2.5 days as well as entertainment providers and local food and drink suppliers.

A day in the life of a Business Events Assistant consists of event briefs, spreadsheets, client proposals – and lots of coffee! I already love the variety that comes from working with the Bespoke Business Events team. The range of clients means that I could be working on an Association conference, corporate event, incentive programme, team building, golf trip, Game of Thrones or Titanic themed event – or perhaps even googling the best fake model toilets! Yes, they have Association conferences for everything!

I am excited for my future within the industry and using the experience I am gaining from this opportunity. I’m loving my first month as an #eventprof –and here’s to the rest of my placement!
